I’ve taught A-Level History for seven years, both in school and through private tuition. My main interests are twentieth-century Europe and the Cold War, although most of my lessons end up spending plenty of time on essay writing too. I’m quite particular about students answering the exact question set. We normally plan essays together, look at where evidence actually earns marks, then move on to timed practice.

Hi, I’m an A-Level History tutor with a particular love for Tudor England and the Russian Revolution. I started tutoring while at university and have carried on ever since, mostly working one-to-one online. I’m not a big fan of memorising pages of notes. I’d much rather get students talking through why something happened, deciding which factor mattered most, and then turning that discussion into a convincing essay.

I have nine years’ experience teaching A-Level History and have also marked examination papers, so a lot of my tutoring is informed by what I see students actually doing under exam conditions. I specialise in modern British and European history. Lessons usually involve source work, essay planning and plenty of past questions. I’m especially useful for students who know the content well but struggle to turn it into a focused argument.
